People Mae Tao Clinic
Mae Tao Clinic, founded by Dr. Cynthia Maung in 1988 to serve the flood of displaced Burmese people surging across the border into Thailand, has served tens of thousands of Burmese refugees living in the border region of Mae Sot, Thailand. In November 2007, the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy named Dr. Cynthia Maung as the winner of the 2007 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award. Keep reading →

Disaster Response

Cyclone Idai hit the southern coast of Africa in mid-March, completely devastating the region. More than 400,000 people were displaced and 1.85 million people affected. Thousands of people are currently living in camps, and there has been a cholera outbreak. Greater Good Charities is partnering with World Central Kitchen to provide hot, nutritious meals to those living in camps and hospitals.

Cat Pawsitive Clicker Training Program

Developed by Jackson Galaxy and a team of animal behavior experts, Cat Pawsitive is a Signature Program of Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site, in partnership with Petco Foundation. The program works to help cats feel more comfortable in shelters and catch the eye of potential adopters.

So far we have supported over 2,600 mammograms for low income, underinsured women in need across the U.S. and also extend internationally in Sierra Leone, where there is currently one mammography machine in the entire country!

Pets & Vets

Pets for Vets provides a second chance for both our returning veterans and needy shelter dogs. These animals can make excellent companions but might not have that chance and our brave soldiers receive a second chance at health and happiness. The bonds of friendship formed between man and animal have the power to ease the suffering of our troops when they return from overseas.

Rainforest Trust helps to purchase and protect threatened tropical forests and critical habitat for endangered wildlife by partnering with local and community organizations in and around the threatened areas. Tragically, homelessness is a major problem affecting America’s veterans. Due to a lack of affordable housing, limited post-service job opportunities, and inadequate care for veterans with physical or mental conditions, tens of thousands of men and women who once heroically protected our country now find themselves in poverty on American streets, needing assistance for even basic essentials until they can get back on their feet.

One Picture Saves a Life

The One Picture Saves A Life program teaches shelters and volunteers how to groom an animal for photography, take pictures with the right lighting, location, and technology, and more, working toward the very best chance of adoption. With more and more adoptions beginning online, a photo that really shows the personality of a pet is more likely to get noticed.

Community Cats

These "community cats" are often fed and cared for by members of the community, but the cost of spaying/neutering and vaccinating community cats are often out of reach for these kind caregivers. Greater Good Charities partners with Emancipet's Northeast Philly clinic to help these community cats in Philadelphia.

Egg Laying Hens

Greater Good Charities helps provide hens to families and students in need. These chickens change lives! One hen lays an egg each day, providing a reliable source of protein for hungry people. The chickens also fertilize gardens, helping families grow more vegetables to include in their diet.
